Generation MIX, National Awareness Tour Pitstop

The face of America is changing… with the multiracial baby boom of the 21st century, mixed race issues are undoubtedly growing in prominence throughout the country. Recognizing that Asian Pacific Americans play a substantial role in the mixed race movement, the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program was proud to participate in the Generation MIX National Awareness Tour in spring 2005.
Time:
Sunday, April 24, 2005, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Location:
Lecture Hall
S. Dillon Ripley Center
1100 Jefferson Dr., SW
Five 20-something crew members. One 26-foot RV traveling over 8,000 miles. Sixteen college campus stops across the country, plus one stopover at the Smithsonian Institution. Generation MIX was a national traveling tour designed to jumpstart a national dialogue about how multiracial youth are changing the face of America.
The tour’s goals were to increase awareness of the mixed race community, increase awareness of the growing body of resources to help people understand the mixed race experience, and to initiate a national dialogue about mixed race people and families.
